I read this book along with my other morning reads and it added to the meaning for me. It has lots of relevant scripture.

I sent this book to my brother, who is currently in jail for a drug problem. He read it and immediately felt God moving in his life. He took out his bible and began a regular bible study with the other inmates. This book opened his heart again. It's worth it. I wish I could send a copy to every inmate.

This book is an excellent read for someone struggling to make sense of something that seems so senseless in life... yet they are faced with no option to be excluded from it... I would recommend it to anyone... especially those hurting... or who have been cruelly crushed in life... I say God's hand was definitely upon the author as he penned the pages of this book...

I was just a little girl when I took a saying, my grandmother had on her wall, into my heart. It read, "The future is as bright as the promises of God". I loved Jesus and my favorite story in the Bible was the story of Joseph and how God used him in a mighty way. Early on I saw the connection between this verse and my grandmother's saying. I never could have imagined how this outlook would be tested in my life. Now, as a woman in her fifties, I find this book to be an incredible comfort and encouragement. Max Lucado took what was deep in my heart and helped me to make peace with my past. What Satan wanted to use to disqualify me could be turned to help encourage others. My divorce, a child suffering from drug addiction and mental illness and the betrayal of a family member, sentenced to life in prison, are all part of a divine reversal. God is good all the time! Thank you for helping me to keep my eyes on God and not my circumstances through this wonderful book!!

I've listened to Max Lucado on the radio for years. Never realized how good of a Bible teacher he really was until I found a few samples of his books on the Kindle. I was hooked. His ability to communicate Bible Truth is second to none. And he has a Church which makes it that much more relevant because he is engaged in real ministry with everyday people. That does give him a grip on the reality of human problems and dealing with God's People with real help from a Biblical point of view. The Bible is a very practical book if you learn a context not just a hodgepodge of verses. Then the Words become food for the Holy Spirit to move from your mind to your heart...then you have real faith in the Steadfast Love Of The Lord. Life is so much easier when we realize the Love of God is unconditional...never earned!

This little book is full of Lucado's reminders of God's assurances to trust Him and be at PEACE. when troubled . I usually focus on the trouble rather than the possible access to peace. I want God to pull me into his peace sooner than later.

The inmate I sent this book to was allowed to keep it. He said it was a great little book. Just 35 pages but very inspirational. His recent phone call was completely different than his phone call from three or four days before he had received it. It has completely uplifted his mood and outlook. He even shared it with another inmate that was struggling to cope. I highly recommend that you send it to your loved ones that are imprisoned.

I actually got this book wen I started my divorce process but didn't read it until nearly a month after it was finalized. If you're going through any kind of mess this was and is a great reminder that God will use this for good, it may not be in the time frame we want but it will be used for good.

Bought as a gift. I didnâ€™t get the chance to read it but the recipient has made several comments about how much this little book has helped to lift their spirits during a rough time which is well worth the purchase.

too much sugar and instructions on cooking.

I bought this and her other book without really reading all the details because my family already eats healthy. I just recently chose to go dairy and glutenfree so when I reopened the books to check recipes I was very pleased to see how the recipes were labeled in the back of the book so you could quickly see what was dairy free, gluten free, peanut free, vegetarian, freezer friendly, as well as listed the page number. Wonderfully helpful!!! Recipes good too!

I was excited to get my copy of this cookbook. I'm one of those people who knows all about real food and what I should be eating but don't actually follow most of the advice out there. With three young kids I'm trying to do better, which is why I bought this cookbook. I feared I would crack it open, get overwhelmed, shelve it and never look at it again. Or that all the recipes would use items I couldn't find in Canadian stores or if I did would cost a fortune.When I opened it up I felt like I was greeted by a friend. Someone who had walked the same road as me and was there to help make it easier for me. She wasn't making me change all my ways overnight, just giving me easy changes I could make to improve my diet.I went grocery shopping the next day. I didn't make over my entire grocery cart but I had meal planned based on this cookbook (something I don't typically do with a new cookbook but I actually wanted to make everything!). In doing so I ended up filling my cart with real food and it didn't feel like a huge life change.All the recipes use normal foods found in normal grocery stores. They're easy to follow with step by step instructions, great tips, family friendly recipes with pictures of every meal.The first section is informative and not condescending in tone (great for a new cook or someone like me who is new to a real food journey).I love this cookbook! I feel like it will be living on my counter for many years!

I actually bought her other book first and then this one. Both are wonderful. The insight into all the sugar and chemicals we are eating is eye opening. Lisa is very helpful telling what to buy and why. She has great recipes and meal planning ideas. Her books are something I have been needing but didn't realize it until I read them. Highly recommend!

I have had this cookbook since it came out. I have been using her website for recipes for a year now. Overall I like all of her recipes, but I feel like the cookbook is too much talk and a little light on recipes (at least for those of us who have read her Blog). I would like to see more dinner recipes. Overall though the food is usually pretty good, though I often double the amount of spices she recommends (but that is probably just personal preference). Definitely recommend for someone looking to eat healthy and be able to prepare foods in a normal amount of time. I will say, that because of her website recipes and cookbook I went from a cook who could hardly boil water to one who loves to experiment and now makes some pretty darn good gourmet dishes! I am no longer afraid to try a recipe. I even lost 20 lbs eating REAL FOOD. I even just purchased this cookbook as a gift for my mother as she wants to try eating real food.

Great info but a lot of fish and bean recipes...just not a good fit for my family as far as recipes but the info is great.

I'm a big fan and long time follower of Lisa's blog. Her recipes are almost always spot on and huge hits in my house. It's difficult to venture outside of her recipes because I have yet to find another source that I can guarantee will come out right on the first try.I only wish that there were more original recipes in this book and fewer recipes that are available for free on her website. It was kind of a steep price for something that has a large portion of its content accessible for free.

I have both of her books. Made a few recepies from them. They were easy to follow, simple ingredients, and fast to make. And each come out great. Also, the first part of the book about healthy food choices is very informative. Great buy!

I'm thankful for people like Lisa Leake who are passionate about healthy eating and take the time to show everyone what they've learned, removing most of the 'hard work' from changing the way we eat. This book is perfect. It details everything one needs to know about cutting out 'highly' processed foods from their diet, in a way that is easy to understand so you're not bogged down with a bunch of boring 'info fluff'. I've been in the transition myself for a few months (even before I found her web site and this book) and now that I have 100 DAYS OF REAL FOOD to help guide me, I know I'm on my way to completely cutting out all the bad from my diet. Anyone looking to change the way they eat but aren't looking to go on a strict raw, vegan or vegetarian diet, this is the best book I've found so far to help you succeed. Bravo!

For a book that often clearly reminds the reader (intentionally or otherwise) that much of the text is a translation from an entirely different language, Searching For Dracula in Romania by Catalin Gruia is a surprisingly accessible read.By far, the best thing about the author's intensely interesting overview of the pop cultural cult of Dracula that has persisted around the world for more than a century now, is that it is written by a native Romanian, whose sole purpose is to provide non-Romanians with a more accurate understanding of the real historical character that has come (much to the chagrin of his present day countrymen who still revere the actual man's memory) to be so readily identified with the fictional vampire Count of Bram Stoker's immortal novel of the same name.This is a fun book, because it not only allows the reader to revel in the dark Gothic world of popular Dracula legend, but also provides a fair and mostly unbiased view of the real Vlad Tepes, national hero of Romania.

The book is very interesting in that I have been researching my Transylvanian Saxon ancestors for the last ten years and have been traveling in Transylvania off and on for the last four years. Interestingly, while I had read lots of books about the Saxons (Siebenbuerger Sachsen) I had only recently read Dracula by Bram Stoker before my first trip to the village of my birth BISTRIZ. This is a great introductory book for both Dracula and Vlad. But having read this authors book on the Saxons I found that book to be a lot more interesting and more directly in line with my research on Genealogy and Genetic Migration.

This is a short book, but then it is not expensive. I found it interesting and entertaining. This is the first place that I have found the story of the building of the hotel 'Dracula's Castle' at the top of the pass between Transylvania and Bucovina. I have passed this establishment a number of times while driving to my holiday home near Suceava, Bucovina, and often wondered how it got built in the Communist days. The schizophrenic Romanian attitude to the Dracula stories is very well described. I think this only appeals to a niche market, but it is excellent for that market.

A very interesting book and a quick read. It could have used another editing pass, but the information it contains is great android the point. I'm going on a trip to Romania in the fall and will see how the information holds up...

What a goofy little book. This "author" just put together some things he could read in the Encyclopedia Brittanica with reminiscences about some tourists he met and call it a book.

This is a non-fiction book telling the story of the 2 Dracula - the historical Price and literal Count - while explaining Romania's schizophrenic dilemma: to transform Dracula into a tourism agent to cash in Western money, and at the same time being afraid not to barter away their true history.I was amazed to learn how Transylvania become the land of vampires and that the fusion between the fictional Count and the historic figure of the Prince Vlad Dracula began recently, in 1972, with the publishing of In Search of Dracula" by Radu Florescu and Raymond McNally who argued that Bram Stoker based his vampire on Prince Vlad.Personally I cannot agree more with the words of the former chair of The Dracula Society Quincey P. Morris of the US: "For us, Westerners, Dracula is fiction, a mere game. Actually, we are not very interested in your Vlad Tepes. It is not us who make the connection between the historical character and the vampire Count; it is you who keep telling us about Tepes when we come to visit the places mentioned in Bram Stoker's novel".I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants o learn more about vampires, Dracula and Romania!

They're marching together through the rain just because an unseen hand is holding above them an umbrella".Vlad and the Vampire. The Eternal Double Life of Dracula is exactly what the title promises it is. Just like in Plutarch's Parallel Lives I`ve learned a lot about 2 Dracula - the historical Walachian Price Vlad Dracula III and literal Vampire Count. But also about the roots of the vampire myths in Transylvania, Dracula Park odyssey, Dracula's three castles in Romania, the Eastern European roots of the vampire myths.The story is immediately compelling but I think it was a little quickly told. I personally would've love to have it with more details.

Catalin Gruia's witty style strikes again! Once you start reading, things just get so interesting you simply can't stop.The book presents a complex story, introducing many points of view from people with key roles in creating or debunking the Dracula myth. The author chose a subject that, as he admits, Romanians find annoying and disturbing, but he also shamelessly presents how Romanians have helped in building real life Dracula castles/hotels and creating frightening shows and guided tours. Combining real life stories and local legends, the book partly resembles a touristic booklet, but with information that a visitor would not find anywhere else.Probably one of the best things about the series of short books by the same author is that they are accessible to everyone, even to those who don't have any knowledge of the subject. And even if you are an expert in vampires, Dracula and/or Vlad Tepes you are likely to find new information and new research themes in this book.I find that Catalin Gruia's books are all linked together, touching on subjects of great interest that have put a mark on how outsiders view Romania, so I advise you to have a look at his other writings.

I've been interested in writing ebooks for quite some time. I've read read several books on the subject, but still had questions. Since Dummies books have always served me well in the past, I thought to myself, "Dare I even LOOK to see if there was an Ebooks For Dummies book out there!" I did. And, there was.Since the look inside feature will show you the contents, first pages, & index, I won't restate them here. But, there were several things in here that I found helpful. First, Ali Luke spent some time introducing us to three Kindle success stories and their blogs: Amanda Hocking, John Locke, & J A Konrath. (Incidentally, if you are even remotely on the fence on whether to go traditional versus ebook self publishing, DO spend time on Joe's blog. Just saying.)Next, Ali takes us through the ebook creation process from idea to written word to ebook covers including suggestions for getting things done when cash is scare: Open Office, Google Docs, Paint.NET, Wordpress.com. Each part of the process is explained step-by-step with plenty of pictures and screen shots for us visual learners. Although I admit to having a preference for the Kindle Direct Publishing Platform, she does a very thorough job of explaining other publishing platforms: MOBI, ePUB, pdf).Since I work in Word, I found the discussion on how to use Calibre (also free) to convert my Word HTML files to MOBI & ePUB files.Many books on ebooks tell you that "anyone can do it and get rich". Unlike many of these, Ali reminds us that you still need a well written, quality product for a target audience with a good cover (even if you ARE doing yourself.) And, if you've messed up your formatting or your book isn't selling, she discusses those problems too.All in all, a thorough book that imparts a lot of usable information without being dry. If I were to pick a companion volume, I would download Tom Corson-Knowles' The Complete Kindle Publishing Book : The Ultimate Guide to Writing, Publishing, & Marketing Ebooks.

This was the second book, and may be the last, that I purchased in order to write and publish an ebook. My first book was Jason Matthews's book: How to Make, Market and Sell Ebooks All for Free. That book got me going, but this book by Luke did the best job of telling me how.The book is well organized even to the point of providing Contents at a Glance in addition to a Table of Contents. The introduction explains how the book is organized, and there is an index. This is a reference book.Good illustrations are provided, and the procedures are also good.But, the book isn't perfect. Here are areas where improvements could be made:- Cost budgeting.- Time consumption for promotion.- Copyrights.- Text could have been presented in outline format in addition to font changes.- Illustrations could be provided, perhaps one or two, showing sample roadmaps of the steps to take in a recommended sequence, e.g. write book > prepare cover > get website > convert format > submit to Amazon ...etc. Preparing such a roadmap will probably be the first step after I complete writing the book in Word. I will use the bubble chart approach showing branches for parallel actions.

Why is it that every time I have a need for a bit of knowledge in an area foreign to me, I simply turn around and order the appropriate book from Amazon...and in this case, the Dummies series! There must be a Dummy book for every human endeavor...and this was no exception. Great book, as always, and a joy to read and learn! Highly recommended--both publishers and distributors.

This is a perfect text to give an expansive view of RM as an academic discipline. Doesn't cover the most recent developments, but touches on the more important developments pre 2000's. Excellent learning tool for graduate students in OM/OR/other quant mgmt fields. Does not go into continuous time models, keeps the math relatively elementary. Definitely not the ideal texts for managers, as the focus is on the supply side of RM technology, not the end user. For managers, I would recommend Cross, as it has more practical examples. One thing I wish this book covered in greater detail is the integration and application of forecasting methods with optimization routines. Overall, this book brought me up to speed for a foundation to understanding the academic work in the field.

This book contains an introductory and step by step treatment of the subject of revenue management. For those who want to work in this field or simply interested in this topic, it is a quite good reference.

Very heavy information. Very confusing. The guy wrote to show off his knowledge not to help people to understand the topic.

The area of Revenue Management (sometimes called yield management) has been developing rapidly over the past decade. All major airlines, car rental companies and hotel chains currently employ Revenue Management systems and profitability of these systems is well documented. Books describing basic concepts of Revenue Management appeared long time ago (see Cross, "Revenue Management: Hard-core Tactics for Profit-making and Market Domination"). Yet, there was no single place to look for the theory behind Revenue Management systems. This long-awaited book represents a concise and up-to-date source of academic knowledge on the theory of Revenue Management as well as implementation aspects. It is a perfect reference for graduate students in Operations Research and for others interested in learning about state of the art in this area.

In my opinion it cannot be recommended for people without good skills in maths, statistical, microeconomics or operational methods. It's very theorical and in some parts you would appreciate more numerical examples.In general the book level it's too high considering the profile of people that use to work in this management area at least in Spain.

This is first book about Revenue Management that do no try to teach a "cake receipt" or to "adapt" RM from Airlines to Hotels. It's not a manual, it is scientific text that, above all, show the mathematics behind the RM policy. A must have to hotel managers!

This is certainly a complete theoretical book on revenue management.But for somebody like me who works on a revenue management system in a car rental company, it is not useful and can lead on the contrary to an overly complicated and impossible to implement system.In any field there is always the theory and how people adapt it to real world cases and there is often a gap between the two.There should be another book that shows the complete process (relatively simple cases should be good enough) of building a revenue management system starting from strictly real cases as related by the client, relating in particular the cost of the process and the benefit of the implementation as expressed by the client.But does the authors have the experience necessary to the writing of such a book?Jean-Jacques LaublÃ© Eurli AllocarStrasbourg France

I think this is only the 3rd time I've rated a book '5 stars'. He writes so beautifully one can nearly hear, smell, and taste the adventure.

The Drums of Kathmandu is a terrific follow-up to the authorâ€™s first travel memoir, Alone in the Wind, which recounts a motorcycle trip across America. Mr. Schiereck again takes us back in time, this time to 1990, and then hundreds of years still further back in time, as his travels through the Far East unfold.The story is amusing, informative, and incredibly poignant. But rather than clinging to the side of some jagged cliff, the story is peppered with laugh-out-loud anecdotes regarding the latest meal cooked up by the teamâ€™s chef, and the mechanical ingenuity and gyrations necessary to keep their transport vehicle moving. And yet, scenes of incredible beauty are brought to life by Mr. Schiereck, who has an eye for seeing, in the simplest things, that which joins us all together in humanity.If youâ€™re looking to read about someone conquering Everest, this may not be your story. But if youâ€™d like to experience, firsthand, a slice of life youâ€™ll likely never see but are curious to understand, this look at late 20th century Nepal, before tourism took hold and spoiled it, or at least changed it forever, this book may be your ticket. Bravo!

The way this book was written was so descriptive you felt u had your own pack on ur back and took the journey with them.

A fine story of adventure. Many parts of the reflections and feelings seemed written by the hand of, or in the true spirit of, Hemingway."There have been moments in my life when magic seeps from the ground, and I get to bear witness to sights dredged up from the depths of time.""Silent, we stood together lost in our reelections, thoughts that I never shared."Written with realism, and candidness, Chuck tells a fine story of a sought out location, it's struggles, and cultural aspects in a far away land that very few of will get to experience. An enjoyable read, at any time.

The Drums of Kathmandu is a terrific read. You actually feel as if you are along for the journey, experiencing, feeling and tasting every detail of his unique trek through the villages, the valleys and mountain passes of Nepal. Mr. Schiereck has an uncanny ability to bring to verbal reality his innermost thoughts. (("Still, sometimes its better if the road ends with a little unsolved mystery") There is a plethora of such philosophical observations. I particularly liked the way he describes the native Nepalese characters, as he highlights their motivational resolve to please, while staying relatively positive despite the coutry's political disasters and poverty stricken population. There is, no doubt a thread of sadness throughout the story. It is this sadness that should make one reflect. It is truly beyond belief how much we take for granted. Perhaps such a trek as taken by the author and his friend should be mandatory for a true life lesson of gratitude. Thanks for sharing your experience, Mr Schiereck.

Loved it! This is one man's journalistic writings of a time captured while traveling in a country most of us will never see, but we have all heard about at one time or another. Historically informative, his narrative drew me in and I felt like I was walking ( or "trekking" ) alongside of him. The numerous photographs enhanced the reading material and further drew me in to the story. I also appreciated the Appendix Notes that gave further testimony, resources and information relevant to Kathmandu, Nepal. In reading this book, I learned things I never knew about a country, it's culture and it's people. A good read!

A truly great read. Through his writing and photography Schiereck has captured what it was like to travel in a place seemingly frozen in time. While reading it I really felt a sense of what it was like to be there. The quotes at the chapter beginnings and all the historical references were great elements that added a lot of perspective. You will love this book!

This book is AMAZING! It has made me cry, laugh and remember all the wonderful mischief siblings get Into. It has also reminded me how wonderful children are.

The adventure continues with the Vanderbeekers and their neighbors. A few tears of joy at the end restore my faith in humans.

Just like the first one, the Vanderbeekers continue to steal my heart in their newest adventure. This book did not disappoint.

I like how the vanderbeekers take charge and help everyone! It is fun, happy and an adventure!

I would say it is probably meant for older than an 8 year old, but great story.

The Vandebeekers are the best neighbors a New Yorker could have! A touching story about kids with big hearts and a love for their community. Canâ€™t wait for Book 3!

Love this beautiful story. The wonderful illustrations and the storyline of the Vanderbeeker family create a lovely feeling that all is well with the world.

Karina Yan Glasser continues the adventures of the irrepressible Vanderbeeker children in â€œThe Vanderbeekers and the Hidden Gardenâ€. When Mr. Jeet, one of the tenants of the brownstone, suffers a second stroke, the Vanderbeeker children decide to create a neighborhood garden in the abandoned lot adjacent to the church. Miss Josie, Mr. Jeetâ€™s wife, loves plants; the elderly coupleâ€™s apartment is filled with her gardening efforts. The children think a community garden would be a fitting tribute to the couple. Breaking into the padlocked lot, four of the Vanderbeeker children â€“ Isa is attending orchestra camp â€“ discover it has been used as a dumping ground. As they clean up the area, other residents of the neighborhood become involved through donations of time or materials. One final obstacle may thwart their efforts â€“ a developer wants to build a luxury condominium complex on the lot. The solution the children find provides a satisfying conclusion to the story and brings a diverse group of individuals together.Clearly knowledgeable about Harlem, brownstones, and children, Karina Yan Glasser gives readers an engaging and very readable story. Emphasizing love of both family â€“ whether blood relatives or those who have become family through deep friendship - and of friends, she makes her characters realistic and approachable. Subjects such as the elderly, neighborhood pride, agoraphobia, and gentrification play roles in the novel.Although â€œThe Vanderbeekers and the Hidden Gardenâ€ occurs in current times, it has the feel of an old-fashioned novel targeted at young readers. While cell phones and modern conveniences are evident in the story, they do not dominate the development of the bookâ€™s theme. Rather, Karina Yan Glasser emphasizes the themes of bettering your environment, sacrificing self and personal desires, and empathizing with the emotions of others.I thought this was a wonderful novel for young readers and for those who enjoy a feel-good story about a familyâ€™s love for one another and about sharing that love with others. Although you do not need to have read the first Vanderbeeker book to enjoy this offering, you will want to read it for the joy it provides you.
