This set contains some great authors, most of whom I’ve read before. My favorite is Lynnette Bonner so I’m reviewing her contribution first. Fire is an edge of the seat story. A new drug, too many school kids dying, and no clue as to who is behind it all. The story starts out with some humor but quickly changes to great suspense! Ms Bonner is good at making you think you have it figured out and then adding new suspects that make you second and third guess yourself. Her characters are well developed and her good guys (and gals) are always so likable.I’m pretty sure I will enjoy the rest of the stories in this clean, uplifting (without being preachy) collection of stories.Update: I didn’t finish reading the whole boxes set! These are all incredibly wonderful stories by super talented authors! You’ll be glad not to miss out on any of these stories!!!
I have read all the books in this collection and enjoyed them tremendously.Hallowed Ground by Mary Alford is a truly thrilling and fantastic read. Surprise ending for me.Fire by Lynnette Bonner is a fear in my throat fantastic story.Jill Came Tumbling After by Lesley Ann McDaniel is extremely suspenseful.Deadly Exposure by Lisa Phillips wow, what a read.Termination Dust by Alana Terry is terrifying but well done.Dead on Arrival by Angela Ruth Strong was a little hard for me to follow at times, but quite scary.For Love or Money by Virginia Vaughn had a good story line but really suffered greatly from lots of errors. Could have used another read through for editing purposes. Collection would have been a 5 star if this one book was better edited.All in all, I highly recommend this collection.
This is a thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. Someone is selling a new drug to high schoolers that is killing them. The detective Case Lexington goes undercover at the school to try to ferret out the one responsible. He just happened to be assigned to a class where he had already met the teacher Kyra Radell. As the tension and danger escalates so do their feelings for each other. I like how it comes to the place where they must depend on God for their very life. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this collection. You will not be sorry you bought a copy of these books. I highly recommend Ms Bonner’s books.
This was a Kindle free download of several books. In general I really enjoyed most of them. On in particular was so good I had to order the previous book in the set. Most were in the crime/thriller genre & very enjoyable especially with the lack of bad language & sex scenes. I’d recommend this bundle to anyone. The stories are long enough to keep one interested. Only one was a bit of a disappointment being a little too “soppy†& unbelievable.
Just finished Dead on Arrival by Angela Ruth Strong. Tremendous faith, great twists, and more suspense than I thought I could handle! Great work!I received a copy of this ebook from one of the authors. This did not affect my opinions and I was not required to leave a positive review.
I bought this series because I like Alana Terry. "Termination Dust" is a stand-out. It is an incredible “slice of life†of a family trapped by alcohol. These are the “trailer trash†that respectable people shun. But God is at work in extreme circumstances. Not only does this book describe how an oppressive drunk can hold his family hostage, it also shows how such oppression can be escaped. The story is an example of empowerment of a young woman, and God’s corresponding providence. This is not another “bodice ripper†or syrupy Christian novel. It is a story that is believable because so many have experienced the mental and emotional abused described in the book. This book is well worth reading and can help Al-Anon aged youth.
The one thing was that this is a box set of novellas, and it ended too soon. It felt like it had to resolve and jump to the end too quickly. But that's a genre issue, not a writing issue.I haven't read the other books in the set yet, but Ms. Terry's story cut straight to the heart of so many families I have known who have suffered abuse and felt trapped. I cheered for Kimmie as she decided to do ANYTHING to keep her little brother safe. I would have liked to get to know the "bad guy" more...I would love to know what happens when he gets Kimmie's letter at the end. But Alana just brings the tough stuff right up in your face in a way that I've seen few authors do so well.I received a copy of Termination Dust in exchange for a fair review. I read the book...and then ordered the box set so I can read the others. You should too.
This set is a great bargain, providing hours of enjoyment for suspense-lovers like me and particularly for those of you who like to read romance novels. Dead on Arrival excelled in delivering action, suspense, and a strong conclusion with romantic elements integrated and realistic. Termination Dust excelled in its realism and thought-provoking content with light elements of romance. Jill Came Tumbling After, Hallowed Ground, and Fire (in order of my preference) provided enough good suspense to keep me turning the pages even though they emphasized the romantic elements a little more than I prefer. Deadly Exposure and For Love or Money emphasized the suspense of romance over other suspenseful elements but had good stories. This set offers a good range of writing styles and a great variety of stories and characters. I highly recommend it.
