WShen I put a note into this vendor at the onset, it was surprising and pleasing when a prompt, pleasant response was received, followed by the book coming quickly into my hands. This is a very comprehensive study of liturgy; its history & practice. Not intended for light reading but a good resource for those who want to delve into the subject.
Excellent book, very informative on Theology and the History of the Liturgy of the Church, defintely worth the purchase, handy to have as a study guide with the Bible.

This book is aimed at a very high and lofty scholarly class. It is, at times, inaccessible to casual reading and learning. If one was interested in a first step study of liturgy, they might want to look elsewhere.

This book has an array of very well-educated, competent academics who have contributed to its scope. It is exhaustive in its attempt to describe the origin of our liturgical practices, how they have changed over time, and why we continue to "do what we do." This work is incredibly important, as many books focus only on Baptism and Eucharist as essential sacraments. However, this book includes a chapter on Orders and how it relates to those sacraments. Theologians have always tied a theology of Orders to the Eucharist, and this work ties them together in a historical narrative. The work is not for the beginner, as it is complex in its scope. Yet it provides an interesting read and provides a wealth of knowledge about liturgical practices.
